“In every walk with nature, one receives more than he seeks.”(John Muir)
Hello Bloggers:
I recently learned from one of my favorite blog followers that 2020 marks Maine’s celebratory Bicentennial year. As I considered her offer to share my own visions of Maine as part of this effort, I immediately recalled hundreds of iPhone pictures I’d taken of Acadia National Park and the nearby Bar Harbor region during our recent Maine cruise travels. Logically, the time seems right for my latest blog to take a fresh look at my blog writing skills and “fire up” some original Haikus about the inspiring natural beauty of this American region.
I thus share three poems below for your imaginative pleasure. Happy New Year USFMAN
SUMMER DARE
A Fractured Rock Shore
Gaze Dark Plunge Into Chaos
So Simple To Fall
NATURE’S NOD
I Just Want To Sleep
Undisturbed In Maine Silence
Away From My Phone
WILD EMBRACE
Strong Pillars of Pine
I Hug Sweet Bark Today In
Living Nature’s Peace
Beautiful photos and beautiful words. Acadia National Park is one of the most beautiful places to explore! Thanks for sharing and have a good day 😀 Aiva

This was a last minute thought JoAnn. Thanks for commenting. I would love to spend an
extended period of time in Maine right now as Thoreau did at Walden’s Pond.

HAPPY 2020! Here in “The Pine Tree State” we’re celebrating Maine’s Bicentennial–that’s right our beautiful state will be 200 years old on March 15, 2020. Here on my blog, I’ll be celebrating Maine through poetry all year long… Let me know if you’d like to join in. Blogger friend Jim Usfman kicks of the New Year with three great haiku poems and photos from one of his Maine adventures! Check out Jim’s blog–for more of his awesome adventures! ~ Bette A. I am honored, Bette, by your inclusion of my poems for this event. I only consider myself a novice poet.

All are lovely, but I like Nature’s Nod the best. (I turned off my phone and laptop for 4 hours today. It was great.)

We stayed in Sullivan on a lake, but visited Bar Harbor twice, and also got down to Freeport. We missed Acadia, but hope to visit the next time!

I just started writing them. I think they fit in well with your blog’s environmental focus. Happy New Year Rosaliene.

Acadia is one of my favourite national parks in North America. I was actually looking into campground availability in the late spring earlier this morning. I’m taking this as a sign that I should definitely go back and visit. For the fourth time. Thanks!

Sure you should go. Bar Harbor would make a good base to check out camping and other accommodations there. Our tour was fun and inexpensive.

Thank you Eugenia. My biggest concern with writing Haikus is the limitation on the use of my prolific photo collection with this format. My reading audience interestingly seems to have shifted since I posted them. Have you ever experienced a similar phenomenon?

Getting away from your phone is quite a challenge these days. I think a new Guinness book of records record will one day be “person who has spent longest time away from phone”. Those pictures sure look peaceful. Thanks for sharing!
